Green Award Innovation In S

Working with our partners, GMIC, we've launched a new IMEX-GMIC Green Award for 2017 - the all-encompassing Innovation in Sustainability Award, designed to celebrate inspiring event professionals driving sustainability forwards through innovation, collaboration and idea sharing. The Award recognises the meeting owner, planner, venue or other key suppliers, rather than individual achievements by a single supplier or event. We'll present the Award at the Gala Dinner at IMEX in Frankfurt.

The deadline to apply for the 2017 award has now passed.

Please contact Milda Salciute for further information.

Bee Part of the Melipona Community – Banyan Tree Mayakoba

The Commitment to the Community Award celebrated innovative efforts to benefit a charitable initiative. Banyan Tree Mayakoba picked up the award for their incentive trip ‘Bee Part of the Melipona Community’ which saw delegates to work with locals to help produce honey soap from the Melipona beehives.

Paola Rubio, CSR Manager at Banyan Tree Mayakoba, explains: "Since discovering the endangered Mayan queen bee, also a symbol of maya culture and traditions, we have been committed to developing our project - “bee part of the Melipona community”. This project, its honey soap workshop and interactive tour, has enabled us to support the creation of new jobs, the empowerment of women and family businesses, and promote local production of goods, giving several families a sustainable income."

Green Meetings

Greenbuild 2014 International Conference & Expo, U.S. Green Building Council and Informa Exhibitions US

The Green Meetings Award rewarded a specific event based on the planner’s efforts to prevent and reduce environmental impact. The 2016 winner was the Greenbuild 2014 International Conference & Expo, the world's largest conference and expo dedicated to green building.

Kate Hurst, Vice President of Community Advancement, Conferences and Events for U.S. Green Building Council, comments:
"When our Board of Directors went to New Orleans to assist with the Hurricane Katrina clean-up, USGBC made a commitment to bring Greenbuild there. Greenbuild New Orleans is a prime example of how the conference is not only a platform for us to educate attendees, but also enables us to transform a city’s infrastructure, impact the health and wellbeing of its residents, benefit the environment and leave a lasting impression for generations to come."
