Social Media At IMEX America

During IMEX America there is so much to see, learn and do on the show floor, taking time to use social media can be overwhelming.

We’re here to help, so we wrote this quick guide on how and when to use social media at the show.

Twitter

We use Twitter to show our followers an instant view from the show floor, during the show.

Block 2

First, follow @IMEX_Group to receive our updates.

When crafting your own tweets you need to consider the 140 character limit. Try to tailor, edit and include as much information as possible.  

Did you know: Twitter no longer counts pictures as part of your character count, so don’t forget to always add a picture to your tweet.

For Exhibitors:

With only 140 characters to share your message it’s important your tweet entices attendees to stop by your booth.

Your Tweet should include:

  1. Your booth number
  2. Our official hashtag - #IMEX16
  3. Your hashtag (if you have one)
  4. A picture of your booth, team, or swag

Insider tip: Reach out to the @IMEXsocialteam and tell them about what is going on at your booth. They will be on the show floor, smartphones in hand tweeting about the show and it’s exhibitors throughout IMEX America.

For IMEX Attendees

Use #IMEX16 to start a conversation with other attendees, or join conversations that are taking place. Alternatively, search #IMEX16 to take a look at what’s happening.

Post Suggestions:

  1. Education – quote a tip or extract from a speaker
  2. Share something you have learned
  3. Report on the show floor entertainment
  4. Tell us about the new connections you made at the show
  5. Remember to tag other attendees (speakers, exhibitors, etc.) and tweet about your experience with them at IMEX America

During the show, our social team will be combing the show floor for the best and most interesting things to capture on Facebook Live. Our Facebook Live videos will capture the “buzz” on the show floor (in real-time), directly from the show floor. Check out some of the videos we created in April at IMEX in Frankfurt 2016.

Keep an eye on your Facebook notifications. When we go LIVE our followers will receive a notification. Everyone can watch us interview exhibitors, answer your questions and stop by anyone on the show floor who's listening.

Block 4

LinkedIn Group - An online network of industry professionals who discuss topics relating to the meetings and events industry. We encourage our LinkedIn Group members to either contribute to a discussion or start a new conversation with other like-minded industry professionals.

LinkedIn Company Page - This is where we share news and other interesting links to the industry professionals who follow us.

Everything we post on @IMEX_Group tells a story of IMEX and IMEX America through images and videos. We share everything from industry tips, to show floor entertainment, and we try to capture the essence of IMEX America. Just like Twitter, we use #IMEX16 in all of our posts associate with IMEX America.
