As industry professionals from all over the world gathered for the sixth IMEX America many shared their experience online. We continue to be impressed by the tweets, blog posts, photos and videos shared. In this post we share our favourite pieces of content and celebrating those who shared their experience.

The IMEX America team sent a special welcome video to everyone at the show...

We also reported live from the IMEX America 2016 show floor on Facebook LIVE. You can view the recording of the live stream on our Facebook Page.

The conversations this year at IMEX America were saturated with insightful knowledge, touching on trending industry topics and predictions. The IMEX America keynotes, powered by MPI, started each day of the show. MPI reported on these via their blog.

  1. We are wired to be social Jonathan Bradshaw
  2. Success beyond your comfort zone Jay Samit
  3. Find a problem and solve it Pablos Holman
  4. Battling ...Yes,... Perfection and The Clunk Tami Evans

The full keynote sessions were recorded in full and you can catch up on these sessions via our YouTube channel.

Wellbeing was once again a hot talking point at IMEX America and LeePapa, IMEX America 2015's keynote speaker, returned to educate and inspire. Lee led education sessions and guided meditation in our Be Well Lounge which was sponsored by Hilton and designed by AWG FAB LABwith furniture provided by CORT. In this Meetings Today video Lee shares a technique to manage your thought process.

The 4th edition of the #IMEXrun was sold out with over 800 runners signing up for the 5K fun run. Event Professionals Run The World created a great first person view of the IMEXrun. Below is the official video of the #IMEXrun at IMEX America 2016.

Before the show started, The Venetian Palazzo and IMEX America went head-to-head on the football pitch (soccer field). In the end The Venetian Palazzo team were victorious with a score of 6-3 to the home team. The players and fans enjoyed the experience and can't wait for the rematch.

At the#IMEXpitch 5 innovative event technology start-ups were given the chance to showcase their product to a panel of expert judges. It was a close call between the five contenders, as mentioned by The Meeting Pool, but when the judges came to a decision Grip won the #IMEXpitch.

There was so much going on at IMEX America; Smart Meetings dwindled down the show to some great Defining Moments from IMEX America with technology at the forefront, in particular New Tech Tools Enhance Every Part of a Meeting. Another leading highlight was the VR experiences at the show. IMEX America Proves VR is More Than a Trend with more exhibitors than before actively using VR to showcase their venues and cities.

Sharing Economy

Continuing the sharing economy conversation from IMEX in Frankfurt, industry professionals gathered to discuss their understanding of how the US events industry is adjusting to this economic trend. Companies like Maritz are altering their services and partnering with the major players in the space such as, Airbnb and UBER. In this video interview Gary Schirmacher, CMP shares details on this with Tyler Davidson from Meetings Today.

Creative Learning

There was plenty of education opportunities throughout the show and one of the most popular was The Play Room. This video from our partners Play with a Purpose explains what this area of creative learning has to offer and how this type of learning can be applied to any event or conference.

Amongst the ample amount of content produced at IMEX America, we received some great content from various podcasts. Here are three that we spotted online:

Safety and Security

The topic of conference safety and the initiatives needed to protect events from security threats, including terrorism, was top of mind at IMEX America. The newly formed EMSSI was announced at a the show and a high level security panel took the stage to talk open up the discussions about the conference industry promoting security initiatives.

After three days of business to business interaction had been digested and skills were being put to practice, some great content was created. First timer, James Goalen, wasn't sure what to expect but wanted to get a feel for that part of the [planner] industry. Ashfield and eveology also newcomers to the show, documented their experience at IMEX America including their expectations and discoveries. IMEX America veteran, Tahira Endean was there too exploring event experience design and the positive impacts we can have when planning relevant and thoughtful meetings.

Music was a big part of the show. Once again the DMC Network and Ovation Global DMC held their Annual Talent show: IMEX Blues by Brian Carraher @ DMC Network Talent Show 2016
